2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 Launch Soon
After introducing an electric version of the GV70 crossover in late 2021, Genesis has clarified plans for the launch of this new EV in the US. Montgomery, Alabama will host the North American production of the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 beginning in December. At the most recent L.A. auto show, the car built to U.S. specifications made its premiere.
The Electrified GV70 has a whole separate drivetrain below what seems to be a virtually identical exterior to its gasoline-powered sibling, the Electrified G80 sedan. In the Performance configuration, the front and rear electric motors work together to create 429 horsepower, or up to 483 hp in a unique boost mode that runs for 10 seconds at a time. There might also be a less potent base powertrain available. However, Genesis has stated that it will be able to DC fast-charge at up to 350 kilowatts. Genesis has not yet disclosed battery capacity or range figures.
Although prices have not yet been announced, Genesis has stated that the product will initially be marketed in the following eight states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Utah, and Washington. The Electrified G80 sedan is currently sold in 12 states after Genesis added Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Virginia to the list. Additional states may be added in the future.
