The midseason update to Call of Duty adds ATV soccer shenanigans

There are two ongoing games in the Call of Duty franchise: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. On December 14, both games will receive a midseason update, as well as double experience and weapon experience across all platforms. The most intriguing new gameplay mode appears to be a Call of Duty twist on Rocket League.

Warzone Cup is a limited-time mode in which two teams of three operators compete on the football (soccer) field. Each operator has a unique ATV with the potential to propel a huge football. The sides must compete to keep control of the football and guide it into the opposing goal. The team that scores five goals first, or the team with the most goals at the end of the five-minute match, wins. Real-life football players Neymar Jr, Paul Pogba, and Leo Messi join the Operators squad, so it's good to see the battle-hardened operators having fun with these sports pros.

Meanwhile, Modern Warfare 2 players can participate in a raid that occurs after the main campaign. Operators can explore Atomgrad, a huge underground bunker teeming with secrets and peril. To gain entry to the raid, players must perform one of the following activities to receive a raid assignment that will last for one week.

Finish a certain Daily Challenge in Multiplayer or Special Ops.

Put yourself in the top 20 of any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist.

Use the final extraction helicopter in the DMZ with at least $30,000 in cash.

The midseason update also includes Warzone 2.0 map expansions and a set of festive Christmas cosmetics.
